The story of Michael Nyqvist’s life plays out like a movie. Born Rolf Åke Mikael Nyqvist in Stockholm, the Swedish dish spent his young life in an orphanage before being adopted. Although the ambitious youth initially wanted to become a hockey player, he discovered the theater when he was an exchange student in Nebraska. Once Nyqvist returned home, he enrolled in the Malmö Theatre Academy. Since then, the arresting actor portrayed police officer John Banck in the Swedish crime series Beck (1997-1998). Michael was cast as a villain in the John Singleton film Abduction (2011), Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011) opposite Tom Cruise, and John Wick (2014) opposite Keanu Reeves. Through the years, Nyqvist nabbed a Guldbagge Award nomination for his supporting role in the dramedy Together (2000) and a win for his lead performance in the rom-com Grabben i graven bredvid (2002). Of course, the Scandinavian stud is best known for playing Mikael Blomkvist in the original The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009). Also called Män som hatar kvinnor, the foreign flick features Noomi Rapace, Ewa Fröling, and Michael’s hairy chest! If that’s not hot enough, the hottie reveals his pubes and peen! No wonder the movie spawned the 2009 sequels The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest. Sadly Michael passed away in 2017 but he leaves behind his wife Catharina Nyqvist Ehrnrooth, daughter Ellen Nyqvist and son Arthur Nyqvist. Now, the As It Is in Heaven (2004) star is in Heaven.
