Raven-haired Roger Rees was the hero of his own story. He burst onto the scene in The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (1981-1982), for which he won a Tony and an Olivier Award. But without the input of Charles Dickens, the talented Welshman created The Life and Adventures of Roger Rees from his birth in 1944 until his death in 2015. Even though the actor got a late start (he didn’t earn his first role until he was nearly thirty), he made up for lost time by shining on stage (Hamlet, Waiting for Godot, The Addams Family); audiobooks (The Woman in White, Memnoch the Devil); television (Singles, M.A.N.T.I.S., Related, Boston Common, Warehouse 13); and film (Frida, The Pink Panther, The Prestige). After making his motion picture debut in the Bob Fosse flick Star 80 (1983) starring Mariel Hemingway and Eric Roberts, Rees (and his bare bum) appeared opposite Laurence Olivier in the TV movie The Ebony Tower (1984). Yet Americans will better recognize the boob tube babe as Kirstie Alley’s love interest on the popular sitcom Cheers (1989-1993). Roger also scored fans with his portrayal of the Sheriff of Rottingham in the Mel Brooks comedy Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993). Recurring roles on hit shows, such as The West Wing (2000-2005), Grey’s Anatomy (2007) and Elementary (2012, 2014) followed. In between, Rees revealed his naked T&A as well as his full frontal nudity in the S&M heavy film Going Under (2004). Of course, Roger’s skinnage had Mr. Man going up!
