When Youtube decided to get into the streaming game with Youtube Premium, they called on the writer and director of Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004) to craft the crime comedy Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television. An ultra-meta show that lasted two seasons starting in 2017, former Veronica Mars star Ryan Hansen plays a fictionalized version of himself trying to reclaim his fame. Struggling to find work, Ryan creates "Celebrity Vice Squad," a reality TV show that teams celebs like Jon Cryer and Eric Christian Olsen with LA cops to use their dramatic skills and industry connections to solve crimes. He can't get a network to buy it, so he films it for Youtube, making things even more meta and providing all sorts of "it's not really on television, then" jokes. Ryan Hansen and his celeb squad team with the ultra-gruff LAPD officers to take down the bad guys. But celebs are soft, and when things get heated they tend to crumble. Will Ryan's show become a hit or is Hollywood going to be no good when it comes to crimefighting? The shirtlessness here is really unmatched, with Anton Narinskiy, Ryan Hansen, Wood Harris, and Jon Cryer all stripping down! Anton has the sort of bulging all-American looks that wet dreams are made of that we get to see when he's lifting weights in the gym before fleeing from our actors. Mr. Man would love to get it on with Anton! Later on, Ryan, Wood and Jon all hang out together in a group shower. We don't get anything X-rated, but we do see their not quite A-list abs! A criminally underrated streaming comedy, our bedroom looked like a crime scene after watching Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television!
