Some movies are made but fail to be released for various reasons. Among these shelved flicks are the infamous Jerry Lewis drama The Day the Clown Cried (1972); Quentin Tarantino’s My Best Friend’s Birthday (1987); Pulse Pounders (1988) with David Warner; The Brave (1997) starring Marlon Brando and Johnny Depp; Don’s Plum (2001) featuring Tobey Maguire; Danny Boyle’s Alien Love Triangle (2008); Tom Green’s Prankstar (2010); and Batgirl featuring Michael Keaton. Decades ago, Kevin Costner tried to block the release of Sizzle Beach, U.S.A. which was shot in the 1970s. In fact, it marked Kevin’s movie debut. Back then, he was too inexperienced to stand up for himself and wound up being uncomfortable during a sex scene. So, once he got some success and funds under his belt, Mr. Costner tried to purchase the rights to the pic so he could shelf it. But that did not happen and the film was eventually released in the 1980s. We must confess, we’re not sad about this outcome since it means we can ogle Kevin’s youthful bare back in the sack. As a horseman, the handsome hunk knows how to ride and be ridden! Also known as Malibu Hot Summer, this indie flick focuses on three young women (Leslie Brander, Terry Congie, and Roselyn Royce) who rent a beach house. As you may suspect, the film was dissed by the critics. Impact magazine said the direction was amateurish and the only point of the storyline is to undress the actors. What’s wrong with that?
