Our Staff Picks column is a new addition that takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version has a decidedly nude angle, as we suss out which films from a certain genre with great nudity. This week: 90s erotic thrillers!
The erotic thriller was a phenomenon in the 1980s and 90s. These were thrillers filled with mystery, murder, insane plot twists, and hot people who couldn't keep their hands off of each other. Naturally, since there were a lot of straight sex scenes in these movies, these were great opportunities to see A-list men go nude. And that's exactly what we did!
Here are our Staff Picks for the sultry, salacious, and ridiculous 90s erotic thrillers that have the hottest men in them:
Body of Evidence
Body of Evidence is a crazy crime thriller starring Madonna and Willem Dafoe. As far as campy twists and turns go, this movie is tops. You'll find yourself screaming "what?!" at your screen several times throughout the movie. To clear some confusion, Madonna and Willem have an intense and graphic sex scene that shows us a lot of Madonna - but we also get to see our fair share of Willem's glistening body.
He sure does glow onscreen! Willem Dafoe's dumper is a gorgeous sight to see in Body of Evidence. That body is all the evidence that we need.
Basic Instinct
Basic Instinct is best known for Sharon Stone being ICONIQUE with her cross-legged moment. You know what I am talking about! It was headline-grabbing and it continues to be parodied and recreated to this day. However, all of this attention given to Sharon Stone has taken away attention from the fine men in the movie who go nude. Did you know that we see Michael Douglas' dick in profile?!
And then there is Michael Douglas's booty that we see when he walks away in one of three sexy scenes that he has in the movie. Whether he is rolling around in bed with Sharon and we see that ass in aerial shots or he is showing shaft when he is on top of her, Douglas is DADDY in this movie.
Sliver
Sharon Stone was the queen of this genre which is evident in the chaotic thriller Sliver. She plays a book editor who rents an apartment in a high-rise where she learns that the former tenant was murdered. Uh oh! She soon meets Billy Baldwin who just so happens to own the building and spy on all of his female renters. Well, we are spying on him after seeing his hot and hairy ass!
This movie is CRAZY. The soundtrack is also so cool and 90s. Everything about this movie feels like a very 90s nostalgia trip twinged with wild sexual energy. If that's your jam, then absolutely watch.
Jade
William Friedkin gave the world this 1995 thriller filled with murder, mystery, and skintrigue. That is because Robin Thomas shows his balls and booty in a wild sex scene. He isn't even the star of the film. David Caruso plays a hunky district attorney who takes on a difficult murder case of an art dealer that looks like it is probably linked to a sex worker named Jade. He tries to question Jade, but obviously, he winds up getting involved with her. A classic femme fatale move! While David gets involved with all of that, we are watching Robin because it's making us throb.
Color of Night
This is The One when it comes to dick. Bruce Willis plays a psychologist from NYC whose patient commits suicide, causing the traumatized therapist to move to Los Angeles for a fresh start. Hey, isn't that also kind of what happens in The Sixth Sense? Anyway, if you have a sixth sense that Willis falls for one of his new clients then you would be correct.
The two of them have one of the hottest sex scenes in a pool that we have ever seen and that is thanks in part to Bruce's dick. Check out this STEAMY scene here:
Wild Things
Finally, we get one of the hottest and most memorable 90s thrillers of the decade. This 1998 flick came at the tail end of the erotic thriller craze, so it had to be more insane than all of the rest. It also featured serious stars like Denise Richards, Neve Campbell, Matt Dillon, and Kevin Bacon who does indeed show us his sausage.
The plot is about a teen seductress who comes on to a teacher as an act of revenge. Matt Dillon plays the teacher who unwittingly steps into the trap between these two friends-and-possible-lovers. He even has a threesome with the girls in one of the most legendary sex scenes that this genre ever produced. Too bad Dillon didn't show his ass!
