18 years after the conclusion of Star Trek, a new crew took the helm of the Enterprise for Star Trek: The Next Generation, which ran from 1987 through 1994, more than twice as long as The Original Series. Set a hundred years after Captain Kirk's time on the bridge, Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) is now at the helm of the Enterprise-D, continuing its quest to boldly go where no one has gone before. His crew consists of First Officer William Riker (Jonathan Frakes), Chief Operations Officer Data (Brent Spiner), Chief Engineer Geordi LaForge (LeVar Burton), Chief Security Officer Worf (Michael Dorn), Lieutenant Commander Troi (Marina Sirtis), and Chief Medical Officer Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden). Many others came and went over the course of seven seasons, but that was the core of crew members battling everything from omniscient prankster Q (John de Lancie) to species introduced by the series including the Borg Collective, Ferengis, and Cardassians. Of course, being a syndicated science fiction series based on a beloved property that ran on regular television in the late 80s and early 90s, there wasn't a whole lot of sexiness happening on board the old Enterprise-D. However, seemingly innocuous things could turn out to be insanely homoerotic and sexy, likely without the writers knowing it at the time. For example, in Season 6, Episode 11, "Chain of Command Part 2," Picard gets tortured for information while in the nude, with Patrick Stewart showing off his cum gutters, shadowy buns, and sexy grandzaddy bod! If only this series would boldly go in a new direction, outside of the world of fan fic, obviously!
