Tank (1984)

Tank (1984) is one of those movies you hear about and think, "That can't possibly exist," and then it turns out it does exist and it's awesome! James Garner (Maverick, The Rockford Files) stars as decorated WWII Army vet Zack Carey, who cashes in his chips and retires to a small town in Georgia with his wife (Shirley Jones) and teenage son Billy (C. Thomas Howell). Zack owns a decommissioned tank that he rides in various parades and other celebrations around town, but it has gotten him into some hot water with the local sheriff (G.D. Spradlin) and his even more corrupt deputy (James Cromwell). When they arrest Billy on some trumped up charges, Zack decides to take matters into his own hands, driving his tank through the police station and sheriff's office, destroying them and releasing his son from custody. Their plan is to drive the tank into Tennessee, where they hope to get a fair hearing regarding their crimes, all of which were committed in the name of ensuring justice is served. What proceeds is a father/son bonding road trip with hookers, local militiamen, and the United States Department of Defense all getting involved in what is a rollicking good time with some good old boys. 55-year old James Garner is looking fit as a fiddle and ready for love with his shirt off 11 minutes in, while James Cromwell's crooked deputy gets his comeuppance when he's paraded naked past some locals, giving us a look at his big zaddy ass! Tank will give you military grade firepower!
