The Devil's Playground (1976) was written and directed by Fred Schepisi, who spent a large part of his teen years training to become a priest. He never went through with it, but his experiences in the Australian seminary inspired this lust filled tale of priests fighting against their carnal urges. A movie that is fascinating on a modern rewatch after knowing about all the scandals the church went through, the story centers around Tom (Simon Burke) a thirteen-year-old boy studying at an Australian seminary in 1953. Yes, back in the 50's teens that young were sent to study to become priests. That caused all sorts of issue when these kids started to question if they really wanted to live the chaste life, which is what ends up happening to Tom when his hormones kick into overdrive, and he starts to get super-duper horny. But it's not just him. Eventually all the priests get into heated debates about what's so bad about masturbation, why they can't get married, and how smart any of them were to become priests in the first place. There's a 2014 made for TV sequel set in the 80's that addresses all the crimes the Catholic priests committed, but when this one was made people didn't know about them, so it never gets addressed. In fact, if you're a gay man this movie makes the seminary seem like the greatest place on earth! Cocks and collars, galore! While the actor who played Father Marshall (Thomas Keneally) went on to win The Booker Prize for his nonfiction book that got turned into Schindler's List (1993), our favorite priest was played by Arthur Dignam since he's the one who gets fully undressed in a locker room scene where he is surrounded by other naked men. That's a playground for sure! He's also fully nude when he fantasizes about skinny dipping in a swimming pool with three naked women. We're fantasizing about his cock and balls. We've dunked our head in Holy Water, but even that can't stop us from thinking about his holes! Father, forgive us for we are having dirty thoughts watching The Devil's Playground
