The End Of The F***ing World (2017)

Whacking is wacky in the British series The End Of The F***ing World (2017-2019), not to be confused with the American movie This Is the End (2013) featuring Channing Tatum, James Franco, Jonah Hill, and Paul Rudd. This black comedy — nay, dramedy— follows two offbeat 17-year-olds in England. James (Alex Lawther) is a self-proclaimed psychopath who can’t feel anything yet wants to kill, while Alyssa is rebellious and moody to the point of being a complete arse. To escape their disinterested parents (Christine Bottomley, Navin Chowdhry and Steve Oram), the teens steal a car and go on a roadtrip. As they drive to their destination (and drive each other insane), James plans to kill Alyssa and Alyssa plans to seduce James. Yet the two become distracted when they stay with Alyssa’s drug-dealing dad Leslie (Barry Ward). He and James literally lose their tops while throwing knives. Barry even touts his tattooed back and bare buns on the beach. Meanwhile, Alyssa tries to hook up with titillating Topher (Alex Sawyer). We can’t blame her since the shirtless stud is built! No wonder the production was a critical success on each side of the pond. In addition to being named “Killer Series” at the MTV Millennial Awards, the show won Best Drama Series at both the Royal Television Society Awards and the British Academy Television Awards. If that’s not impressive enough, it also received a Peabody Award! Best of all, the show’s flesh flashing scenes gained a standing ovation in Mr. Man’s jeans!
