Review

The underappreciated TV Land comedy The Exes revolves around three divorced men—ladies’ man sports agent Phil (Donald Faison); the lazy, wisecracking funnyman Haskell (Wayne Knight); and the clingy dentist Stuart (David Alan Basche)—all sharing an apartment in New York City that's owned by the single-and-afraid-to-mingle divorce attorney Holly (Kristen Johnston), who also happens to live across the hallway from them. Stuart, a client of Holly’s, is the new guy in the roommate equation. While Phil and Haskell have their reservations about Stuart, Holly is always nearby to quickly quell their valid concerns. Along for the ride is the lawyer’s party girl assistant Eden (Kelly Stables), who always seems to have her nose in Holly’s business, especially in regard to her dating life. It’s a matter of time before the guys start to gel together, leading to a friendship that allows them to commiserate about their ex-wives while trying to get back into the game. For four seasons starting in 2011, viewers watched these poor guys struggle with the modern dating scene, deal with their bitter ex-wives and do everything they can to not make the same marriage mistake twice. The sitcom is full of laughs, but it’s short on skin. In season four, episode one, on an episode temptingly titled “The Devil Wears Hanes”, Brandon Routh heats up the show by showing off his beefy, boxer-short clad physique. We’d like to shack up with Mr. Routh! If Superman doesn't do it for you, get a load of when John Stevenson pops out of a cake as a wild male stripper. His abs alone have undoubtedly led to a whole lot of divorces! If only The Exes had been X-rated!
