Take a gonzo trip down San Juan way in the Johnny Depp vehicle The Rum Diary (2011). Based on an autobiographical novel of the same name by the crazy, envelope-pushing, drug-popping author Hunter S. Thompson, The Rum Diary follows the picaresque adventures of Kemp (Depp), a freelance journalist sent to Puerto Rico by a local newspaper. But Kemp’s search for the facts is quickly surpassed by his quest to get smashed, and it’s on one of these booze-soaked misadventures that he first encounters the gorgeous Chenault (Amber Heard)…and her boyfriend Sanderson (Aaron Eckhart). Oops. But Kemp is not one to wither in the face of adversity, and Chenault eggs him on with her free-spirited, flirtatious ways. Eventually Kemp scores with the island eyeful, and we score too with a glimpse at Depp’s sexy, sun-soaked physique. Throw in a dash of Aaron Eckhart sans shirt, and you’ll have skintoxicating adventure with yourself!
