The Secret Of The River is a Spanish-language Netflix series set in Mexico about two childhood friends whose bond is sealed when they witness the death of a man in the woods. So how did we get here? Manuel (Frida Sofía Cruz Salinas) is a questioning kid who doesn't know that he falls on some letter of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. He is introduced to the idea of Muxes, which in Zapotec culture are people who are a third gender - neither man nor woman. He identifies with this, drawing attention from some of the haters in town. Manuel is new in town and develops a friendship with Erik (Mauro Guzmán). When Manuel and Erik are followed into the forest by a drunk homophobe, the boys accidentally kill him while trying to save themselves. This secret stays with them for the rest of their lives. It's a dark thriller that makes a little time for some skin! Diego Calva plays adult Erik and he flaunts his bod during a straight sex scene. Go Diego go!
