The Tailor of Panama (2001)

Pierce Brosnan exposes the dark side of his James Bond persona as a sleazy spy on the make in The Tailor of Panama (2001). Based on a John le Carre novel, Pierce plays Andy Osnard, a former MI6 spy who gets sent to Panama for boinking the wrong higher-up's wife. There, he meets tailor Harry Pendel (Geoffrey Rush), a fellow British ex-pat who pretends to have been a bigtime tailor back in the U.K. when he was really a smalltime crook. Andy recruits him to get all the secrets from the rich and powerful people he makes suits for, and since Harry needs the money, he takes the deal. But soon enough Harry's stories get more elaborate and far-fetched, to the point of absurd. Andy knows he's making stuff up but doesn't care, since as long as he's giving the Brits information and they're buying the stories, the government checks will keep rolling in. Eventually, Harry's whoppers have the USA convinced the Panamanians are about to sell their canal to China. With the Americans plotting an invasion of Panama to make sure that doesn't happen, Harry and Andy's game is about to have some very real consequences. Pierce Brosnan was tailor made to play a seductive spy everyone ends up in bed with. Pierce's character is a gorgeous glutton because he's lusting after Harry's wife (Jamie Lee Curtis) while already banging Catherine McCormack. Those twoheat up the already hot tropical environs of Panama in a sweaty sex scene that features Brosnan’s Bunson burner as the main attraction. That's the canal Mr. Man was most interested in! Yes, this hunky spy will have you ripping the stitches in your britches watching The Tailor of Panama!
