Thieves (1996)

A cop, a college professor, and a beautiful teenaged girl form the love triangle at the heart of Andre Techine’s Les Voleurs (The Thieves) (1996). Stony-faced police detective Alex (Daniel Auteuil) is in love with young, free-spirited Juliette (Laurence Cote)—as their mutual acquaintance, beautiful college professor Marie (Catherine Deneuve). But that’s not the only thing standing in the way of their romance; not only has Juliette just joined the crime syndicate Alex has spent his life trying to get away from, she is also in business with Alex’s brother Ivan (Didier Bezace), who was recently killed in a shootout with police.
