What is there to say about the legendary Tony Curtis that hasn't already been said? This adorable dark-haired dude tickled Hollywood for decades until he passed away in 2010. He was a native New Yorker who had a rough childhood on the streets - or what he affectionately called "the school of hard knocks". He found his way to acting where his talents took him to great heights. He made his debut as a gigolo in the 1949 film Criss Cross. From there he acted in anything and everything! He is best known for playing Joe/Josephine in the classic comedy Some Like It Hot in 1959, alongside Marilyn Monroe. It was a delight to see the sweet-natured Tony Curtis get dolled up in drag. He also has starred in notable roles in Sweet Smell of Success, The Immortals, The Persuaders!, The Boston Strangler, Johnny Stool Pigeon, and he made several guest appearances on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. While he already did some queer-baiting in Some Like It Hot, he decided to have a highly charged homoerotic scene in the Roman war epic Spartacus in 1960. He plays Antonius, a servant to Crassus played by Lawrence Olivier, and he gives him a sponge bath. While he bathes this god of acting, Crassus asks him if he likes oysters or snails. He then tells him that he prefers both...get it? He is propositioned by the Roman ruler who tells him that he likes both parts. The shirtless, toned and tanned Tony Curtis is unsure of what to do, so when he is done rubbing his master down he leaves. Aw, come on! Just when it was getting spicy!
