Undercover (2019-2021)

Here in the States, moviegoers viewed Undercover Blues (1993), Undercover (1995) and Undercovers (2010) on the big screen while European audiences tuned in to the boob tube to watch the Belgium-Dutch series Undercover (2019-2021). Created by Nico Moolenaar, Piet Matthys and Bart Uytdenhouwen, this crime drama is loosely based on actual events. Throughout three television seasons, the saga follows agents Bob Lemmens (Tom Waes) and Kim de Rooij (Anna Drijver) who pose as a couple in order to track and trap a drug kingpin. Along the way, we get to meet Ferry (Frank Lammers) and Danielle (Elise Schaap) Bouwman; Dennis de Vries (Huub Smit); John Zwart (Raymond Thiry); Jezebel (Nina Mensch) and Jurgen (Kevin Janssens) van Kamp; Liesbeth Mertens (Katrien De Ruysscher); Marc Gevers (Robbie Cleiren); and Nick Janssens (Manou Kersting). The show also includes Lieke van den Broek and Stefan Percevall’s naked chest! Yes, the skintastic actor goes shirtless on the second episode. The same can be said of Mr. Waes who parades his pecs during the first season. By episode 4, Mr. Lammers loses his top — literally — as does Mr. Thiry on episode 8. In fact, the uninhibited chap takes it a step further when he sits around in his boxers. By the third season, we get to ogle Murat Seven’s hairy chest when he sits up in bed. Nevertheless, we want to see more of the Undercover cast. Suffice it to say, we’ll have to do some investigating to detect what else is lurking under the covers!
