Review

Based on an old Nathanial Hawthorne story Wakefield (2016) is about a normal man named Howard Wakefield (Bryan Cranston) living comfortably the suburbs with his loving wife (Jennifer Garner) and two daughters. He has a great job as a Manhattan lawyer and everyone tells him how hot his ex-dancer wife is, but he's absolutely miserable. One day he chases a raccoon up into his garage attic and finds it offers him a fantastic view of his home. He stays there for a while to try and clear his head, then panics that his wife is going to accuse him of having an affair for being gone too long. He watches the family deal with his absence, watches the cops come ask the family about their missing patriarch, then realizes he'd rather hide out than face his issues. As time goes by and months pass, he isn't sure if it's possible to go back to life as normal. Eventually he grows a gnarly beard, watches his wife start hooking up with a new dude (Jason O'Mara), researches how his work is going without him, finds out all sorts of information about his daughters' private lives, and starts to wonder if he can ever return home. He can't stay up there forever, but with each passing day it becomes harder and harder to leave his attic hideout. You'll come out of the closet, if you haven't already, after seeing Bryan Cranston's beefy chest. The babe-a-licious Bryan can hide all he wants, but we see that sexy shirtless man! He is sweaty, shirtless, and bearded while he takes a stroll down the street at night! How can he be miserable with a hunky bod like that? Wakefield will have you wanting to wake up next to Bryan Cranston, even if it's in a dank attic!
