West Side Story (2021)

For years, director Steven Spielberg had talked about doing a remake of the classic 1961 Best Picture winning musical West Side Story and in 2021, his version of the film was finally realized. Armed with a new adaptation by Pulitzer Prize winning writer Tony Kushner, Spielberg and company set in the film in the neighborhood that used to be known as San Juan Hill, now Lincoln Square, and puts the issue of gentrification front and center. Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zeigler star as Tony and Maria, star-crossed lovers whose instant attraction threatens to upend the already tenuous relationship between rival gangs in the city. Featuring incredible performances by Mike Faist as the hot-headed Riff and David Alvarez as the no-less-fiery Bernardo, it's Elgort who brings the film's only shirtless scene, waking up in bed after spending the night with Maria! All it takes to enjoy that scene is One Hand, One Part!
