What's Up, Doc? (1972)

No Nudity

Review

What's Up, Doc? (1972) is a classic comedy from innovative director Peter Bogdonavich very early in his career. The silly movie feels like a "modern-day" (well, modern at the time, but now it's the early seventies) that takes place in San Francisco and stars the immensely popular-at-the-time Ryan O'Neal and Barbara Streisand in a raucous comedy that involves a mix-up of four plaid bags that puts all of the bags' owners in precarious situations. Two researchers who come to the city in search of a music research grant and Barbara seems intent on making Ryan's life hell. A woman has her bag of jewels talent and a government official has a bag filled with secrets that he was planning on releasing. Ryan and Barbara are in possession of these valuable things and find themselves in a city-wide chase as the mix-up of the bags gets sorted out. One other thing that can be sorted out is Ryan O'Neal's white boxers. He plays a nerdy music researcher who wears glasses and a bow-tie, but no amount of glasses or bow-ties can make the hunky Ryan look less than an absolute star. We see just how sexy he is when he is shirtless in a hotel room to show off his tanned body and sandy hair. Check out his chest curls as he undresses down to just his white boxers. He then goes to the bathroom to find Barbara taking a bath in there. He nervously orders her to leave which lets us just get a better and longer look at Ryan sans pants.
