Apocalypse Now (1979)

Apocalypse Now (1979), produced by Francis Ford Copolla and starring Martin Sheen, is now known as one of the best movies of all time, though the filming process was pretty painstaking. With a hint of Heart of Darkness, the plot follows Captain Willard (Sheen) into Cambodia on a secret mission to knock out the very nuts Walter Kurtz, a colonel who lost his mind in the middle of a mission. Originally sent into the Viet Cong to perform hit-and-runs, Kurtz now thinks the Viet Cong is great and has become a demi-god of sorts. Naturally, Willard's little assassination mission takes a turn for the worse, and he is kidnapped and tortured. At least his very dark, very scary tryst in Cambodia is brightened by the sight of Sheen's penis, which makes a cameo when he's dancing around to 60s music. Talk about relief!
