His last name might be Pearl, but he's definitely a gem in our eyes! Barry Pearl is somewhat of a legend on broadway, having worked in professional theater in New York City now for over 50 years, not bad for a kid from Lancaster, PA. He was in Bye, Bye Birdie, Guys and Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof and almost too many to even list over his five decades on the stage. In the late 60s, Barry started getting some screen time too, mostly smaller roles in movies like The Adventures of The Prince and The Pauper (1969) and a few episodes of TV shows like The Doctors and CPO Sharkey. Then he took a role on a new musical after graduating from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1973, playing the role of Doody in the touring production of Grease. That is when Barry Pearl became a recognizable face to everyone who has ever been a fan of musicals. When they were casting for the big budget film production of the hit play, they tapped some familiar faces and Barry reprised his role in the 1978 version starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John and he became Doody again in Grease, only on the big screen for the biggest box office success of 1978. This also marked his Nude-Comer debut when he was one of the trio that mooned Sha Na Na and a national TV audience at the dance! After that Barry kept getting tons of work, mostly doing one off TV episodes of popular shows like Alice, Barney Miller, Hill Street Blues, and plenty more.
