When it comes to serving up male skin, we’d like an order of Boy Eating the Bird’s Food (2012), not to be confused with the Paul Schrader thriller Dog Eat Dog (2016). Also known as To agori troei to fagito tou pouliou, the Greek drama is based on the novel “Hunger” (1890) by Norwegian author Knut Hamsun. Director Ektoras Lygizos updates the book to Greece’s debt crisis of 2007 and 2008. During this time, Yorgos (Yiannis Papadopoulos) is starving in contemporary Athens. Although educated and cultured, the young man is estranged from his family and friends. As such, he lives alone in a dilapidated apartment sans human food. When he’s not eating the seeds he feeds to his pet canary, he scams grub from his elderly neighbor (Vangelis Kommatas) and pilfers scraps from nearby dumpsters. Yorgos is so resourceful, he licks up his own load after he jerks off into his hands! In fact, we get to see the erect peen on Papadopoulos. Let’s hear it for a protein-based diet! Later, Yiannis washes his bare chest, toned torso, pubes, buns, cock and balls with bottled water. Although the liquid is cold, the scene is hot! Greece submitted this flick to the Academy Awards in hopes of it being nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, yet entries from Italy (The Great Beauty), Belgium (The Broken Circle Breakdown), Denmark (The Hunt), Cambodia (The Missing Picture) and Palestine (Omar) were selected instead. Nevertheless, the nudity in this movie merits a statuette in Mr. Man’s pants!
