Casey Donovan was a bold, blonde pioneer of gay porn films, having acted in one of the first gay porn films ever made, Wakefield Poole's Boys in the Sand (1971). He was a teacher before moving to NYC as an escort and model, appearing in many productions on and off Broadway. His first film Ginger (1971) was a platform for Donovan to showcase his goods and explore his acting interests, all while slinging dick (perks of the jobs), following it up with Boys in the Sand, a mainstream success and the first of its kind. Donovan went on to other films of the same ilk, including Score (1974) and Moving! (1974), unfortunately though, the stigma of appearing in racy and taboo films kept him from moving into more mainstream fare. While he continued to work in films more off the grid, and some with his former collaborator Wakefield Poole, his ambition to crossover into mainstream didn't pan out. His legacy, Boys in the Sand, is a striking testament to the boldness of film and art (and he's sporting a good looking wang too).
