Cat Sticks (2019)

Cat Sticks (2020) is a black-and-white drama from writer and director Ronny Sen that comes to us from India. The script is all in Bengali as the entire 94-minute story takes place in Calcutta. On one rainy night, a group of Calcutta addicts seeks more crack to smoke. Their stories come together from their highs and lows to the real and surreal as we explore their journeys to seek drugs. Of course, they are seeking to find a quick hit to help them escape their lives and get high, but they all experience other things along the way. Because this is West Bengal, there are a lot of heavy rains. The constant downpour of rain adds to their desperation as well as the high intensity the stars in this movie face as they attempt to score more drugs in order to not face dangerous withdrawals or deep unhappiness. This is one tense and beautiful film! Saurabh Saraswat is worth watching when this big-eyed bearded boy sits down naked in the bathroom. Watch him take off his pants, teasing us with pubes before he sits down to smoke crack. Check out his cock when he gets confronted by his father and the two have a scuffle. You'll want to scuffle with him or with Sounak Kundu who also shows his penis. Sounak does a sensual nude "dance" with Tammay Dhanania. The pair are in the distance but are messing around naked under a sort of spotlight that is shining through ceiling boards.
