Darkman (1990)

Crime has a new enemy and justice has a new face…a very handsome face in the action-thriller Darkman (1990). Dr. Peyton Westlake (Liam Neeson) is a brilliant scientist working on the creation of a synthetic skin for burn victims. All is well until the skin-doc’s girlfriend, hot shot lawyer Julie Hastings (Frances McDormand), gets on the wrong side of Robert G. Durant (Larry Drake), an evil mafia dude. Durant, along with his henchmen, destroy Peyton’s lab and nearly kills him in the process. Now, thanks to the roughing up, the near dead doctor receives a medical treatment that inexplicably gives him super strength and makes him impervious to pain. Now under the moniker of Darkman, Peyton uses his powers, along with his synthetic skin, to exact revenge against those who ruined his life. In the process, Liam Neeson loses his shirt to show off his crime-fighting physique. It’s too dark, man, to see anything, but we still appreciate the effort.
