Friday Night Lights (2004)

Based on the best selling book of the same name by Buzz Bissinger, Friday Night Lights (2004) tells the story of small town Texas high school football, a world unto itself. Set in the same year as the book, 1988, the film tells the story of the Permian High School football team out of Odessa, coached by Gary Gaines (Billy Bob Thornton) and led by star player James "Boobie" Miles (Derek Luke). Derek Luke got in insane shape for this film, just look at him without his shirt on... hachi machi! While the film did well, the story's legacy would be more famously carried on by the television series of the same name that began two years later! But we'll always have Derek Luke's unbelievable body to cherish in this flick!
