Smart People (2008)

The indie romantic comedy Smart People (2008) stars Dennis Quaid as Lawrence Wetherhold, a bitter widowed professor who lives with his wise-cracking and politically conservative teenage daughter, Vanessa (Ellen Page), and tolerates his unemployed mooch of an adopted brother, Chuck (Thomas Hayden Church). Everything changes when Lawrence gets a concussion and comes into the care of emergency-room doctor Janet Hartigan (Sarah Jessica Parker), who also happens to be a former student who used to have a crush on him. If you’re a Thomas Hayden Church fan, you’re in for a bare-butt treat when Church lies in a bed face-down, in the buff. But a little more skin from Quaid or Church would have been smart, people.
