When performers appear in pajama-titled productions, up goes the intimacy level (among other things). That’s why Mr. Man loves watching Doris Day and John Raitt in The Pajama Game (1957); Annette Funicello and Tommy Kirk in Pajama Party (1964); Susan George and Robert Klein in Pajama Tops (1983); Jennifer Lynn Allan and Jaime Bergman in Playboy: Playmate Pajama Party (1999); and Julianne Nicholson and Justin Kirk in Flannel Pajamas (2006). Thanks to the pen and direction of Jeff Lipsky, the latter pic proves opposites attract — for a bit. In other words, this indie flick offers a thoughtful examination of a relationship from meeting to marriage and more. The action begins when Nicole (Nicholson) and Stuart (Kirk) meet on a blind date. She’s a Montana Catholic with mucho money woes and he’s a savvy New York Jew. Somehow this adds to romance and the two soon shack up. But as they discuss getting hitched, it’s clear there is trouble in paradise. Although Nicole and Stuart love each other, they might not be a good fit. After some yakety-yakking, the two go packing. But not before they try to hold it together with a little help from their friends and plenty of graphic naked time with each other. As such, we get to view Mr. Kirk going full frontal just 17 minutes into the movie. If strutting his stuff in the buff isn’t sexy enough, he also flashes his abs, ass, sack and shaft at the 29-minute mark. Talk about an overexposed actor!
