Finding Bliss (2008)

Perhaps because she got her first paid gig out of film school editing promos for The Playboy Channel, it only seemed right that when it was time for Julie Davis to write and direct a rom-com she'd set it in the porn world. Finding Bliss (2009) is Julie's film that seems to mirror her life pretty well. Our protagonist is the similarly named Jody (Leelee Sobieski), a dreamer who packs up her school awards and her surefire hit screenplay and heads to Hollywood to get her movie made and find fame and fortune. What she ends up finding, is disappointment and a job editing porn films for Grind Productions and their studio head Irene Fox (Kristen Johnston). Jody is a plucky lass though and embarks on a quest to make her movie on the sly using the porn company’s facilities. It's a solid plan, until she falls in love with legendary porn director Jeff Drake (Matthew Davis) who, like her, dreamed of mainstream stardom before selling out for the money by filming money shots. Watch for some crazy cameos in this one from people ranging from Garry Marshall to Ron Jeremy. Since this romantic comedy is set in the porn world, there is some level of skin, but for the most part it’s limited to distant shots of thrusting and humping. Not that that’s a bad thing. Funnyman Jaime Kennedy plays Dick Harder, a dim porn star with a massive dong. At a party to celebrate the end of a film, Dick drops his pants and serves up a complete platter of man berries and branch. The shot lingers on Kennedys' pretty package for a few seconds giving us ample opportunity to soak it in. The Jamie Kennedy Sexpirement continues with a bunch of crazy scenes filming pornos, where we get a whole lot of Jamie's ass. Mr. Man touched himself to that scene so much he got a bliss-ter!
