An overworked private eye is dispatched to look into the suspicious death of real-life superman George Reeves in Allen Coulter’s Golden Globe-nominated crime drama Hollywoodland (2006). Adrien Brody stars as Louis Simo, an intrepid investigator who probes into the details of Reeves’s (Ben Affleck) death, even after finding himself targeted for death. Determined to discover the truth for Reeves’s grieving mother (Lois Smith), Simo uncovers an affair that Reeves was having with the wife of MGM Studio’s head executive—a dangerous liaison that may have led to the Man of Steel’s premature death. Bob Hoskins and Robin Tunney round out an all-star ensemble cast, but it’s the partial view of Affleck’s cheekage that will have your man as hard as steel.
