Grenzgang (2013)

Based on the Stefan Thome novel of the same name, the boob tube flick Grenzgang (2013) follows Thomas Weidmann and Kerstin Werner (Lars Eidinger and Claudia Michelsen) as their lives slowly spiral downwards and eventually intertwine. Thomas has lost his job at the local university, forcing him to take a history-teaching job at a high school. On top of everything else, the demoted dude has drifted away from his partner in Berlin and entered a mid-life funk. Kerstin is a lonely, sexually frustrated divorced mother of a trouble-making, chip-eating, television-watching teenage son. While dealing with her mother’s heartbreaking Alzheimer’s disease, she also faces a cut in her income. The two lonely characters eventually cross paths, leading to an intense relationship. Where there’s an intense bond, there’s bound to be flesh. Harald Schrott shows some butt during a moment of sensual sex. Also, Lars Eidinger ups the ante by baring a bit of peen when he urinates on an outdoor advert. Gotta love these German films!
