Adolescence can often be fraught with heartbreak and an unrelenting desire to get out. Davina, played by beautiful Natalie Dyer, is no different. After caring for her disabled mother her entire life, she feels hopeless, depressed, and bored, longing for something to break her out of her rut and introduce a little magic into her life. When she finds Sterling (played by sexy Peter Vack), she thinks she's finally found a light. He asks her to skip town with him, driving "anywhere but here," and she happily agrees. She comes to find that the life she'd always fantasized about isn't quite what she expected, and as Sterling grows less tender and more violent, she turns to her imagination for comfort.

I Believe in Unicorns has been described as "sexually frank," and punk-rock-playing Vack ditches his shirt several times throughout the film as he and Dyer roll around in the sheets—or sometimes the barn. Between his long hair, lean body, and tan skin, it's easy to see what made the leading lady love this lad.
