Lady Chatterley's Lover (2015)

D.H. Lawrence's infamous 1928 novel Lady Chatterley's Lover is brought to life once again, this time as a film adaptation that first aired on BBC One in September, 2015. For those unfamiliar with the story, it follows Lady Constance Chatterley (Holliday Grainger) a naive and sexually inexperienced woman whose life is changed when her husband Sir Clifford Chatterley (James Norton) returns from WWI paralyzed. Despite his impotence, Clifford demands an heir from Constance, who quickly finds herself in as loveless a marriage as one can imagine. Enter Oliver Mellors (Richard Madden), the brooding gamekeeper hired by Clifford, who soon helps Constance encounter her own sexual awakening. As their affair explodes, Constance finds herself having to choose between the love of a man she barely knows or a cold, loveless, yet comfortable existence with a man she no longer loves. Far and away the most interesting about this particular adaptation, apart from its 89 minute running time, is the fact that it has zero nudity in it of any kind! That's right, the famously sexual and erotic novel has been turned into made for television fare. Thankfully there are some sensational shirtless looks at both Richard Madden and James Norton, but even that can't save this chaste adaptation from being a disappointment!
