Lazer Team (2016)

Science fiction meets comedy in Matt Hullum’s Lazer Team (2016). The PG-13 rated flick takes viewers back to 1977 when the government is keeping alien dangers a secret from its civilians. As such, the future of humanity falls into the hands of four Lazer Team buddies: traffic cop Anthony Hagan (Burnie Burns), former footballer Herman Mendoza (Colton Dunn), Zach Spencer (Michael Jones), and the suggestively-named Woody Johnson (Gavin Free). Needless to say, these dudes are all ill-suited for the job. Speaking of suits, in order to protect themselves in galactic battle, the inept crew must wear a special suit that will help turn them into meticulously cultivated warriors. As they become an invincible force to protect Mother Earth, we encounter Bean (Jeremy St. James), Colonel Emory (Steve Shearer), General Cale (Benjamin Scott), Officer Vandenbloom (Kirk Johnson), Mindy Hagan (Allie DeBerry), and the skin on Adam (Alan Ritchson). It’s clear the latter character is called the Champion of the Earth due to his global appeal. Like Mr. Burns and Mr. Dunn, Mr. Ritchson bares his chest. If that’s not hot enough, Mr. Jones parades his pecs in one scene and flashes his ass while riding around town. When he presses his buns against a car window, it’s positively cheeky! Despite the fact that critics weren’t exactly wowed by this pic, it was popular enough to spawn the sequel Lazer Team 2 (2017) which was released on YouTube Red. We’re waiting with blue balls to see more nudity in a possible Lazer Team 3.
