Le Plaisir de chanter (2008)

The French are known for the Champs-Élysées, Champagne, baguettes, cheese, art, mimes, and a grinçant sense of humor. Such black comedy is on full display in Ilan Duran Cohen’s Le Plaisir de chanter (2008). Also known as The Joy of Singing, this foreign flick follows Constance (Jeanne Balibar), a naïve and friendly gal taking voice lessons from Eve (Evelyene Kirschenbaum). Her hubby Hans (Pierre Remund) is a successful banker who supposedly has a USB stick holding nuclear secrets. Constance’s life takes a drastic change when a couple of ruthless guys kill Hans in search of the files. In an effort to cozy up to Constance to see if she has the USB stick, secret service agents Muriel (Marina Foïs) and Philippe (Lorànt Deutsch) enroll in Eve’s singing classes. As you can assume, the espionage and musical setup leads to a lot of laughs. Luckily for us, the funny flick also includes beaucoup skin! Throughout the pic, Julien (Julien Baumgartner) parades his bare body. The nude dude shows off his fuzzy chest, firm derrière, man-bush, balls and peen — whether he’s in bed with a woman or a man! Yes, the risqué romp boasts several sex scenes. In one, a lucky lady kisses Monsieur Baumgartner’s nips. In another, Julien reveals his back and buns while blowing a very hairy bear. Even when the skintastic actor is shuffling around his place alone, he does so sans clothes! Did we mention that the drapes aren’t closed? Julien’s neighbors must love their room with a view!
