Paradise Cove (2021)

Paradise Cove (2021) may sound like it's the kind of tropical escape we could all use right about now but there's more terror than gorgeous vistas in this particular flick! Following the death of his mother, professional contractor Knox (Todd Grinnell) moves with his wife Tracey (Mena Suvari) into the deceased woman's Malibu mansion. While the property fits the very definition of a fixer-upper, Knox is confident he has the skills to restore this once gorgeous home to its former glory. However, no amount of construction know-how is going to allow the naive couple to fix the house's biggest problem: the homeless woman Bree (True Blood's Kristin Bauer van Straten) squatting in the house and claiming she has the right to live there. While Bree is definitely unstable, neither Knox nor any of the men he's hired to help get the house in tip top shape are all that threatened by her appearance. Little do any of them realize that Bree has killed before and, more importantly, plans on killing again in order to retain what she thinks is rightfully hers. It isn't long before their Paradise Cove turns into a Nightmare Cove, straight out of a direct-to-video thriller from the late 80s or early 90s. This is clearly the feel that the filmmakers were going for with this thriller that unfortunately offers more chills than spills... if you catch our drift! Star Todd Grinnell does his best to show off his shirtless physique both while walking around the house and while getting a shower handjob from Bree, but sadly we never get to see below his waist! And what a waste that was!
