Private Romeo (2011)

Shakespeare plus hot dudes in military uniforms equals sexy in the homoerotic drama Private Romeo (2011). This isn’t the version of Romeo and Juliet that you learned in school. Set in an all-boys military academy, Romeo (Seth Numrich) and Juliet (Matt Doyle) are two cadets that are in some sort of limbo as they are awaiting transfer orders. During their wait, they begin to study the famous Shakespearian tragedy in their English class, and the legendary play begins to seep into their lives. With a mash up of YouTube videos, indie rock jams, and the original text of the play, the imaginative film address the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy that infected the U.S. military for nearly two decades.
