Cryptocurrency might actually be the next big thing, but Sony's streaming service Crackle certainly isn't. But that's not to say they didn't put out some cracking good television back in the day, including the three-season lasting tech dramaStartUp (2016). Set in the vivacious Miami scene full of flashy cars, beautiful people, and crime, the show stars Otmara Marrero as Cuban-American first generation immigrant turned Stanford educated whiz-kid Izzy Morales. Izzy has invented a new cryptocurrency called GenCoin which she thinks will revolutionize the world and help out poor people. Of course, since she's a young woman with a Hispanic name, nobody at the big banks want to invest in it. Luckily for her, banker Nick Talman (Adam Brody) needs to launder Haitian gangster Ronald Dacey's (Edi Gathegi) cash as a favor to his dad and sees GenCoin as a great way to do it. FBI Agent Phil Rask (Martin Freeman) was blackmailing Nick's dad, but now sees the GenCoin scheme as one he just might need to either stop or get in on. It's organized crime, 2.0. But while crypto adds a new element to crime, it's not long before the old standards like murder, robbery and assault are making an appearance. Plus, there's some digital dollars to add to our spank bank! Tech doesn't have to be all computers and apps - StartUp knows how to start us up when it gives us some of Adam Brody's tight bod in a sex scene. We'd love to have him do us Doge-style! Edi Gathegi and Adam Huber also let loose when they both go shirtless. ¡Ay, papi! That's what we like to see. Throw in Ektor Rivera going nips out while checking his phone in bed and Lovensky Jean-Baptiste showing his sweaty abs outside, and you'll want to invest some time to watching StartUp.
