Sathnam Sanghera grew up in Britain with his traditional Sikh parents in the 60s - in fact, he wore his never-cut hair in a topknot until he was 14. When he became a big-time journalist for the times, he wrote a memoir about growing up culturally divided and what it was like to learn that both his father and sister had debilitating mental illnesses that he never knew about. Played by Sacha Dhawan in the resulting biopic, Sathnam even has a white girlfriend he has to tell his family about - and he spend some time in his boxers with her on screen!
