The Living End (1992)

Before Gregg Araki released his teen apocalypse trilogy (Totally Fucked Up, The Doom Generation and Nowhere), he whipped out his grownup pic The Living End (1992). As part of New Queer Cinema, the gay romantic dramedy follows an irresponsible drifter named Luke (Mike Dytri) and a negative film critic called Jon (Craig Gilmore). After Luke whacks off a police officer, the two dudes hit the road with a “fuck everything” attitude. In other words, the film is like an indie version of Ridley Scott’s hit Thelma & Louise (1991) if the titular characters were HIV positive homosexuals. Yes, these guys are diagnosed with AIDS. As you can guess, it’s doubtful Luke and Jon will live a long life. In fact, the only one who is likely to experience a happy ending is you! That’s because these fellows test positive for being hot! This is especially true when the topless gents take a steamy shower together. Quick, grab yourself a towel! The story also includes the flower-named ladies Daisy (Mary Woronov) and Fern (Johanna Went); Tarzan (Michael Now) and Jane (Michael Haynes); the Three Stooges (Peter Lanigan, Jon Gerrans, and Jack Kofman); as well as Barbie (Nicole Dillenberg) and Ken (Bretton Vail). The latter dude proves he’s a living doll when he flashes his hairy ass just 11 minutes into the pic. That’s when Mr. Vail lets Mr. Dytri spank his bare buns with a tennis racket in bed. Suffice it to say, this sexy scene will have you slamming some balls. Score!
