Review

No, The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing (1973) is not a preemptive rebuttal to the animated film Cats Don't Dance (1997). In this particular case, Cat Dancing is actually the name of a never-seen Native American woman who was murdered and assaulted when her husband Jay Grobert (Burt Reynolds) was away. After returning to find her dead, he hunts down and murders the man responsible, getting caught and sent to prison in the act. Now that he's out of the joint, he rounds up some old friends to pull one last train robbery, with a score coming through that could set them all up for life. The only problem is that Jay's old team isn't quite what it once was and they're soon on the run from the law again. While in hiding, they meet Catherine (Sarah Miles), a woman who has run away from her abusive husband (the eternally tan George Hamilton) in search of peace. Jay's gang decides to have a little fun with her, but Jay leaps into alpha male protector mode and finds himself falling for the helpless woman. Now on the run from both the law and Catherine's violent husband, Jay must find something worth living for, otherwise he's sure to die in one of a dozen different ways! While there's no nudity in the flick, it is one of the best places to catch peak Burt Reynolds hotness as the late, great stud of the 70s goes shirtless to take a bath in the river! That must make Mr. Man The Man Who Loved Burt Reynolds!
