The Pom Pom Girls (1976)

Rowdy seniors enjoy a final fling before graduation in The Pom Pom Girls (1976), a raunchy teen comedy that follows football hunks, Johnny (Robert Carradine) and Jesse (Michael Mullins), as they study their playbooks and attempt to lead Rosedale High to victory over their rivals, Hardin High. But while the pigskin pals are amping up the team to get ready for battle on the gridiron, their coach’s (Robert Gammon) abusive coaching techniques and obnoxious attitude are killing the team’s spirit. Also, with the players’ hormones raging out of control, cheerleaders begin to take precedence over the Xs and Os, further complicating their play on the field. Football soon takes a backseat for Johnny when he starts dating Laurie (Jennifer Ashley), a glory that inadvertently raises the ire of her ex-boyfriend Duane (Bill Adler), the school’s resident tough guy. With the big game right around the corner, the two schools get lost in a prank war that results in a stolen fire engine and a great view of Robert Carradine’s mooning backside.
