Like the tall ship adventure Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003), there are plenty of early 19th century seamen featured in the high seas series To The Ends of the Earth (2005), not to be confused with the Vietnam war drama To the Ends of the World (2018). Based on William Golding’s trilogy of novels, this small screen saga follows Edmund Talbot (Benedict Cumberbatch) who boards a British ship for a voyage to Australia where he will take a post in the colonial government. Along the way, Talbot must deal with Captain Anderson (Jared Harris), 1st Lieutenant Charles Summers (Jamie Sives), Lieutenant Deverel (JJ Feild), Mr. Brocklebank (Richard McCabe), Parson Colley (Daniel Evans), Mr. Prettiman (Sam Neill), Mr. Pike (John Singer), Wheeler (Brian Pettifer), and Sir Henry Somerset (Charles Dance). According to the leading man, this miniseries is “…a sort of rock and roll 1812 period drama about a young man’s gap year. It’s full of filth, dirt, discovery, sex, drugs, dancing, love, spiritual awakenings and massive sweeping changes!” Benedict, you had us at filth, dirt, and sex!” As such, Edmund is forced to learn the depths of his soul while viewers can view of the depth of his pubic hair in episode 2. That’s when the topless hottie develops a rash near his crotch. Once this is discovered, Mr. Cumberbatch must scrub his naked self on the deck. The skintastic act showcases the curve of the bare bloke’s ass. Alas, we don’t get to see his Benedickt!
