Comedian Steve Coogan plays Factory Records honcho Tony Wilson in the post-punk nostalgia trip 24 Hour Party People (2002). From The Sex Pistols to Joy Division and the Happy Mondays' Ecstasy-fueled raves, Wilson was the pied piper of getting down. The biopic unravels a crazy tale of sex and drugs, along with the triumphs and failures of the Manchester music scene that flourished and fluttered from the mid 70s to the early 90s. Through it all, the Hacienda, a mega famous music club similar to Studio 54, became the epicenter of chaos and creation. The club really gets grooving when Paul Popplewell goes full frontal during a drug-fueled party. Now that’s rock ‘n’ roll!
