What do Oliver Reed, Dean Stockwell, Michael Landon, Michael J. Fox, Jason Bateman, and Taylor Lautner have in common? They’ve all played werewolves in horror flicks that take place in Spain or the States, respectively. But it’s the “Be a Pepper” soda star David Naughton who portrayed An American Werewolf in London (1981). Since some Brits think of tourists from the USA as uncouth dudes who could do with a tad of sophisticating, it’s fun to imagine the reactions of appalled Englishmen and ladies of manners while visited by the utterly beastly yank David Kessler (Naughton) when he’s in his loup-garou state. As for us, we’re in for a howling good time. Thanks to writer/director John Landis, this chiller diller mixes comedy, drama, romance, and gore-splattered suspense with cleverly-related music including Bobby Vinton’s ballad “Blue Moon” (1963), Creedence Clearwater Revival’s folk-rock hit “Bad Moon Rising” (1969), and Van Morrison’s jazzy “Moondance” (1970). The latter track plays while Mr. Kessler and his nurse Alex Price (Jenny Agutter) roll around under the sheets. The film also features Griffin Dunne, John Woodvine, and Mr. Naughton’s nudity! David isn’t afraid to show us his animal side (and human skin) throughout the pic. Whether inside his flat or outside in the London Zoo, the tall brunette bares his naked chest and man-bush as well as his cock and balls! In other words, his privates go public at the 00:58:55, 01:09:23 and 01:10:47 marks. If that’s not arousing enough, the hairy hottie also flashes his full moon. Woof!
