Sir Jonathan Pryce is a brilliant actor who was knighted, in part, because he’s so good at playing real life people on screen. Throughout his esteemed career, the Olivier and Tony Award-winning thespian has channeled Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio in The Two Popes (2019), Chief Justice William Rehnquist in Woman in Gold (2015), Cardinal Louis de Rohan in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies (2003, 2006, 2007), King James in The New World (2005), Gustav Mahler in Bride of the Wind (2001), Dr. William Rivers in Regeneration (1997), Juan Perón in Evita (1996), and Lytton Strachey in Carrington (1995). Written and directed by Christopher Hampton, the latter is a biopic about the titular artist. Based on Lytton Strachey: A Critical Biography, this R rated film follows the odd relationship between painter Dora Carrington (Emma Thompson) and the aforementioned author Lytton (Pryce). When he first eyes the 17-year-old Dora, he thinks she’s a boy. This is a compliment since Mr. Strachey is gay. In other words, we get to ogle the flesh on several British gents! For example, Ms. Thompson’s character gets it on with a shirtless Beacus Penrose (Jeremy Northam). The same can be said of Gerald Brenan (Samuel West). Not to be outdone, Mark Gertler (Rufus Sewell) struts his stuff in an old school bathing costume that showcases his bulge. Best of all, Ralph Partridge (Steven Waddington) flashes his abs and ass in the forest. As you can guess, Mr. Man would love to carry on with the men in Carrington!
