Coyote Ugly (2000)

Despite its misleading title, Coyote Ugly (2000) showcases plenty of pretty performers. Based on the real life Coyote Ugly Saloon franchise (a chain of drinking establishments that hire dancing female bartenders), this musical dramedy follows Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo), a wide-eyed working-class Jersey girl who heads to the Big Apple to make it as a singer/songwriter. Suffering from crippling stage fright might put a thudding halt to the budding career of a lesser ingénue, but Violet finds her voice and her nerve after getting a job at the famed bar where there’s no shortage of bumping and grinding. With the help of her saucy co-workers (LeAnn Rimes, Maria Bello, Melanie Lynskey, Tyra Banks) and sexy new boyfriend Kevin O’Donnell (Adam Garcia), Violet begins to bloom. Speaking of, you’ll be blooming below the belt when Mr. Garcia serves up a seductive (albeit awkward) striptease on top of the bar to help Violet keep her job. He doffs his jacket and shirt, ending up in just his jeans. Better yet, he rubs his chest and nips as he gyrates. Later, we see him in the obvious aftermath of a night with Violet. The camera takes a long journey from Adam’s feet up his shins and hips, ultimately teasing us with a sheet covered pelvis. If that’s not arousing enough, the scene reveals the side of his ass! Maybe that’s why the movie was a box office smash even though critics weren’t impressed. Regardless of any shortcomings, this flick makes us long in the pants!
