Food Lore (2019)

Virginia Woolf said it best, "One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well."  Truer words have never been spoken about the importance of food in society and cultures throughout the world as a whole.  In the Netflix series Food Lore, we follow a bevy of different characters with one common link between them, noshing on some incredible food and the relationships that they build because of their cooking, be it friendly, marital, patriarchal, business, or even sexual.  This food centric series is shot as vignettes by 8 different directors all from different Asian and Southeast Asian countries and if this doesn't make you want to get a big bowl of Pho or some Vindaloo, we don't know what will.  Each chapter of this story follows the culture of the director and actors that are in focus, be it a housekeeper and employer in Manila, or a Japanese chef in Vietnam who tries to woo a woman with Tofu, or even an American asshole in Thailand who thinks burgers and fries are the only food anyone should eat.  When each chapter unfolds, you definitely want to go check the pantry, see if you have anything calling your name, but it's the sexy studs in the series that make you want to head to a private room in your house and satisfy a different kind of appetite...  The unquenchable boner they give you!  We get a couple of solid nude scenes from Hong Cong Ho and the luscious Lãnh Thanh, as well as a couple of shirtless stripdowns from John Marvin Nieto and Dian Sidik.  Like they say, the fastest way to a man's heart is through the stomach, but you might want to take that last left and detour through "Orgasmville" before you nosh...
