Force Majeure (2014)

An avalanche ruins a vacation and potentially a marriage in the dark comedy Force Majeure (2014). Tomas (Johannes Kuhnke) is a hardworking businessman, an ideal husband, and the perfect father. Looking to take a five day break from work, Tomas takes his beautiful wife Ebba (Lisa Loven Kongsli) and his pre-teen children to the French Alps for a skiing holiday. While dining at a quaint mountainside restaurant, the family’s vacation takes a turn for the worse when an avalanche hits the resort. While panicked diners are running in all different directions, trying to find safety, in the midst of the chaos Ebba calls out to her husband as she tries to protect the children. Well, Tomas is no where to be found because he has run for the hills. When the rolling mountain of snow fails to produce any tragic thoughts and everyone safe, everyone begins to question and ridicule Tomas for abandoning his family at such a crucial time. Now Tomas faces the uphill battle of trying to redeem himself in the eyes of his family and friends. At the same time, he manages to show off his underwear-clad physique while getting emotional with his wife. Buck up, big boy.
