Anyone who has seen Boris Karloff in Frankenstein (1931), Christopher Lee in The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), Michael Sarrazin in Frankenstein: The True Story (1973), Gene Wilder in Young Frankenstein (1974) or Udo Kier in Flesh for Frankenstein (1974) knows the story of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (1994). An idealistic young scientist makes a DIY monster out of various body parts only to reject the creature once “It’s Alive!” which causes the being to escape and inspire angry villagers to carry their torches for him (and not in a good way). But, have you seen Robert De Niro play the monster? Criminal monsters, sure, but THE monster? He does in this adaptation of the classic novel “Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus” (1818). Director Kenneth Branagh takes on the title role of Dr. Victor Frankenstein and turns the tale into a Gothic action flick complete with coverage of his own uncovered chest. Whether in or out of the lab, he likes to flash his abs! The movie also includes Victor’s fiancée Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter), Frankenstein’s best friend Henry Clerval (Tom Hulce), Captain Robert Walton (Aidan Quinn), Schiller (Hugh Bonneville), Professor Waldman (John Cleese), Victor’s father Baron Frankenstein (Ian Holm), and Mr. DeNiro going DeNudo! Check out Bobby’s bare back and butt 44 minutes into the flick. If that’s not arousing enough, Frankenstein’s monster’s shows his crotch monster at the 47- and 50-minute marks. Despite the fact that critics were far from thrilled with this horror thriller, Mr. Man appreciates the skin DeNiro delivers!
